ClickFunnels for E-Commerce: Best Practices

ClickFunnels makes starting your very own e-commerce store a breeze. But without the correct planning and preparation, you may end up with a costly landing page that no one visits.

Below, we’ll outline the best practices for getting started with ClickFunnels and explain everything you’ll need to consider before starting an online store.

Know Your Niche

According to some estimates, there are over 20 million online stores currently in operation. This huge number means that competition is fierce for almost every single product or service.

That’s why the first step to succeeding with ClickFunnels is deciding on a niche; a specific product, service, or group of people that you will target.

It can help if you focus on something you are passionate about, like a specific sport, a certain fashion, or a type of technology. Then hone in on one smaller area that you can address.

Choosing a niche that you find fulfilling will help you be successful in the long term.

Focus on Customer Experience

E-commerce is all about serving people as best as you can.

To succeed with ClickFunnels long term, you will need to focus on helping the group of people in your niche, known as your target customers.

Ask yourself:

  • What problems are they facing?
  • What issues are they struggling with?
  • How can you help them solve these problems?

Once you have a clear idea of your target customers’ challenges, start creating a viable solution.

Choose Your Model

Once you’ve identified your target customers and identified problems they are facing, the next step is to choose your model. For example, what product or service will you sell, and how will you sell it?

You may decide to sell:

  • Physical products
  • Digital products
  • Services such as consultations or mentoring

Or you may choose to sell other people’s products or services:

  • You can drop-ship products and have manufacturers ship them directly to your customers.
  • You can use affiliate marketing to sell products and services from other businesses and get a percentage of each sale that you make.

Build a Lead List

The key to succeeding on ClickFunnels is to build a list of e-mail addresses known as a lead list.

Building an e-mail list is extremely important; it lets you contact people directly and offer them your products or services.

One of the best ways to build a lead list is to run advertisements with free or low-cost products that simply require customers to pay for shipping. Then, if the ads appeal to people in your target market, you’ll make enough to cover the cost of your ads.

You will also get lots of useful e-mail addresses that you can use to drive targeted traffic to your ClickFunnels store.

How to Use ClickFunnels for E-Commerce

The first step to getting started with ClickFunnels for e-commerce is creating a funnel. Click on the “Build a Funnel” tab.

Next, choose “Sell Your Product” to start making a funnel for your product or service.

You’ll see three types of funnels based on the products or services you want to offer.

You can choose one of the three types of funnels, depending on whether you want to sell a product or service, launch a product or offer a membership.

Sales Funnel Building

Let’s look at a traditional sales funnel.

It consists of:

  • Squeeze Page
  • Sales Page
  • Order Form
  • Order Confirmation
  • Thank You Page

Here’s how the funnel works:

Visitors arrive on your Squeeze Page and see details and information about your product or service. These details may include:

  • Eye-catching text
  • Videos
  • Several “Call-to-Action” buttons

Once visitors decide to buy, they will redirect to the sales page, then the order form.

As soon as they complete their purchase, they will see the order confirmation page and a Thank You page.

All of these elements are easily customizable, and you don’t have to start from scratch.

In addition, there are many templates available that you can easily modify. We’ll look at how to do this in the following section.

Best ClickFunnels for E-Commerce Templates

E-commerce templates are pre-made files that you can use to build sales funnels in ClickFunnels.

In addition, you can easily customize all templates to suit the type of funnel you want to create. This customization saves you time and takes the guesswork out of creating a successful funnel.

Once you start building a funnel, there will be a menu behind the pop-up section where you can pick a template based on your needs and goals.

We’ve selected the “e-commerce” industry, and a “Sell a Product” type of funnel to give you an example of how this works.

As you can see, there is a variety of templates made both by the ClickFunnels team and independent ClickFunnels creators. For example, here are some of the free “2-Step Tripwire” funnel templates by the ClickFunnels team.

And here are some paid premium templates by independent designers.
