Key Takeaways:

  • Both generic and personalized certificates of completion can be sent to students via a Kajabi account.
  • The process of sending certificates can be fully automated.
  • Personalized certificates can be created using Accredible or Google Slides.

A Kajabi certificate of completion can help to improve engagement by encouraging students to share their achievements. This article will show you exactly how to create and automate a certificate.

Generic Certificate of Completion on Kajabi

Creating a simple certificate of completion through Kajabi is straightforward. You can design a certificate so that anyone who completes your course receives one automatically as an email attachment.

How to Automate Sending a Certificate of Completion on Kajabi

Certificate of Completion

Design the certificate:

Before adding the certificate to Kajabi, you should design one that suits your brand and can be used for all customers completing the course.

There are many online image tools, such as Canva, where you can create a certificate.

Once you have designed the certificate, add it to Kajabi using Automations.

Create Automation:

The Automation needs to be applied to the Final Lesson of the course that the certificate relates to. When the customers complete the lesson, they will automatically receive an email with the certificate of completion.

  1. To create the Automation, start by selecting your Final Lesson
  2. At the bottom of the page, find + Add Automation and click
  3. Use the Then Action button, triggered once the Lesson is complete
  4. Click Send an Email, and then To the Person
  5. Complete the Email and click the paper clip
  6. Attach your designed certificate and upload it
  7. Hit Ok, then Save

Your Automation will now add a Tag when a customer completes the lesson.

How to Create a Personalized Certificate Using Accredible

Personalized Certificate

Accredible has many features available to Kajabi customers, including sending customized certificates of completion to your customers. Customized certificates will make your service appear more professional and provide a personal touch.

To do this, you need both Accredible and Zapier. Zapier is a software product that allows websites like Kajabi to connect with third-party apps to automate repetitive tasks.

Once your customer completes their Final Lesson, they will be required to complete a Form that will trigger a ‘Zap’. Your Zap will send the personalized certificate of completion to the email address provided on the Form.

Follow these steps to connect Kajabi and Accredible with Zapier.

1: Create a Form on Kajabi for your customers to complete

  1. Open Marketing and click Forms
  2. Click + New Form
  3. Once you have entered a title and populated the Form, click Embed
  4. Customize the Form by changing the text and appearance
  5. Click Save and then Copy the embed code for the Form

Next, add the Form to the Final Lesson.

  1. Find the last lesson on your Product that you want to add to the Form to
  2. Paste the embed code into the source code and click Ok and Save
  3. Press preview to check the Form is correct

Zapier requires data to test the automation, so you will need to complete the Form with the required information.

  1. Add your information and submit the Form from the preview page.

2: Create your certificate with Accredible

  1. Log into your Accredible account and select Designs
  2. Click Create Certificate Design
  3. Either select an Accredible template from the left sidebar or upload your own design
  4. If you have selected a template, complete and add the attributes. Edit the fonts, images, and logo to suit your brand
  5. Add a name for your customized certificate and click Save and Close
  6. Create a group for your certificate by clicking Create Group on Accredible, and add all of the required information and your certificate

3. Link Kajabi and Accredible with Zapier

  1. Log into Zapier and select Make A Zap
  2. Select Kajabi for the App Event
  3. Choose New Form Submission for the Trigger Event and click Continue
  4. Select or log into your Kajabi account to connect them
  1. Select your Site, locate the Form created earlier, and press Continue
  2. Click Test Trigger
  3. Next, for the Action, select Accredible Certificates for the App and Create Credential for the Action, and press Continue
  4. Connect your Accredible account with Zapier by pasting your API Key located in your Accredible settings and pressing Continue
  5. Under Name, select First Name or Name, depending on your preference
  6. Select Email under the Recipient Email field
  7. Add the achievement name in the Course Name field and a description in the Course Description box
  8. Customize the additional credentials if needed to suit your course, select True under the Publish Credential field, and hit Continue
  9. Zapier will create a new credential in your Accredible account as a test. This test certificate will pull data from the Trigger App and test as per your Accredible set. Check over the data pulled from Accredible to confirm it is correct.
  10. If you are happy with everything, click Turn on Zap to connect Kajabi and Accredible and start sending certificates.

How to Create a Personalized Certificate Using Google Slides

Personalized Certificate

Use Google Slides to create beautiful certificates which can be personalized for your customers when they complete your course on Kajabi.

To use Google Slides to create your certificate of completion, as with using Accredible detailed earlier, you will need to connect Zapier with Kajabi.

This is done by using Automation and adding a Tag for when your customer clicks the Mark as Complete or Passes an Assessment.

1. Create Automation

  1. To create the Automation, start by selecting your Final Lesson.
  2. At the bottom of the page, find + Add Automation and click.
  3. Select Add Tag from the dropdown.
  4. Name the Tag with a keyword to help identify it and press Save.

Once done, your Automation will add a Tag when a customer completes the Lesson.

If you’re on the Basic plan, click Save to complete.

However, if you’re on the Growth or Pro plan, you can alternatively add a Tag when your customer Passes or Completes an Assessment.

  1. Locate Add Condition at the bottom of the Automation
  2. Open the dropdown menu called Select Filter
  3. Add either Completed Any Of These Assessments or Passed Any Of These Assessments
  4. Select the Assessment in the next field
  5. Click Apply, then Save
2. Create the certificate in Google Slides
  1. Create and design your certificate template in Google Slides. You can do this using Kajabi’s standard template
  2. Click Use Template in the top right corner and customize it to suit your brand, wrap the variables with two curly brackets, e.g. {{ }}
  3. Once you have customized the certificate, click the top left corner and add a title
3. Link Kajabi and Google Slides with Zapier
  1. Log into Zapier and select Make A Zap
  2. Select Kajabi for the App Event
  3. Choose Tag Added for the Trigger Event and click Continue
  4. Select or log into your Kajabi account to connect them
  1. Select your Site, locate the Form created earlier, and press Continue
  2. Complete the Customize Tag by selecting your Site from the second dropdown menu, then select your Tag from earlier and press Continue
  3. Click Test and Continue
  4. Next, choose Google Slides for the App. For the Action Event, select Create Presentation Form Template and then click Continue
  5. Connect Zapier with your Google Slides account
  6. To set up your Google Slides Presentation, start by naming your certificate with something unique in the Title of New Presentation section
  1. If you want your customers to be able to download the certificate, click Yes for Is Shared?
  2. Under the Template Presentation dropdown, select your certificate title
  3. Match the variables you defined in Step 1 to the relevant Kajabi data:

    Name = Contact Name

Course_name or custom variable in Google Slide = Product Title

  4. In the Issuing Date box, enter {{zap_meta_huma_now}} to add the date
  5. After matching the variables, click Continue

Zapier will make a test certificate in your Google Slides account. This test certificate will pull data from the Trigger App test. Locate the test certificate in your Google Slides account.

4. Edit the Zap to send certificates automatically

  1. Return to the Zap you created and add Email by Zapier to another Action App
  2. Press Continue on the first page
  3. Create the email template by adding the customer’s email address from the Trigger App into the To section
  4. Add a subject line and text you want to appear in the Email
  5. Then add Export Links Application/pdf to the Attachment field and add the matching file which will provide your customer with a PDF certificate
  6. Add any additional information to the optional fields as desired
  7. Click Create and Continue to test the Zap

You can set up a test account in the Contacts tab of your site. If you need to change any of the sample data in the Trigger App step to receive the test certificate email, it can be found in Zapier’s guide.

You can always return to the Zap if you need to edit the email template or change the certificate.

  1. Once you have successfully received the email, turn the Zap on
