SamCart does not have a money-back guarantee. In most cases, if you’ve paid, you won’t get a refund unless you meet very specific criteria.

However, if you’ve paid, meet the criteria, and want your money back, it’s always worth trying for a refund. You may get lucky!

Key Takeaways:

  • Only annual subscriptions are eligible for a refund if canceled within 30 days
  • Refunds are at SamCart’s discretion and are not guaranteed
  • No refunds are available for monthly subscriptions or CreatorU accounts

SamCart’s Cancellation Policy Is Strict: Here’s an Overview

SamCart’s Cancellation Policy Is Strict: Here’s an Overview

Many SaaS platforms like to offer reassurance in the form of a 30-day money-back guarantee. Typically, they provide this with no questions, as long as you cancel within 30 days.

SamCart has taken a different stance with a stricter approach.

Its Terms and Conditions policy states that refunds are not guaranteed and will only be considered if you meet specific criteria.

Even if you meet those criteria, SamCart is still under no obligation to refund you.

Essentially, it’s entirely down to their discretion. And, as you’ll find out later in this article, the company does not have a great track record in this respect.

So, Can You Get a Refund?

Possibly…

Maybe.

But only if you’ve paid upfront for an annual subscription.

If you paid for a monthly subscription, forget it. SamCart will not issue you a refund, regardless of when you cancel. Your only option in this case is to suck up the cost and make sure you cancel before your second monthly payment is due.

paid upfront for an annual subscription

Oh, and if you got your SamCart subscription as part of a CreatorU account, you’re also out of luck.

CreatorU is a SamCart-owned platform that provides training and resources for building online businesses. This is offered as a subscription, and when you sign up, you’ll also be given an opportunity to sign up for SamCart.

If you purchase SamCart this way, then, no dice. You can’t get a refund if you want to cancel. If you paid annually, you technically could, but it’s offered in the form of credits that can be used to buy other SamCart products.

So, it doesn’t really count.

If you did pay annually and have never heard of CreatorU, you may have a chance. As long as you make the refund request within 30 days of paying, SamCart might be gracious enough to return your money.

Two Ways to Cancel SamCart and Request a Refund

Email Support

Email Support

The recommended way to try to get a refund is to email SamCart support at billing@samcart.com.

You can make the request and see if they will honor it. Since refunds are at the whim of SamCart, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Be polite with your request.
  • It’s a good idea to state your reasons for the request.
  • If you have been using your SamCart account extensively and making sales, they’re probably less likely to issue a refund.

Use the Live Chat Widget

Use the Live Chat Widget

The second option is to use SamCart’s live billing assistance service.

You can find this by clicking the help icon at the bottom-right corner of your SamCart account. Note that this is only available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central Time.

When using live chat, the same considerations apply—be polite, etc.

Since it’s harder to keep a record of live chat conversations, I recommend using email instead.

Try to Avoid Being Charged in the First Place

Of course, the best way to avoid all this hassle is to not get charged in the first place.

Sign up for a free trial, and make sure you use it. You’ll have a good idea after a week or so whether or not SamCart is for you.

If it isn’t, be sure to cancel your account before the free trial has ended. Remember, keep your receipts for the cancellation!

Whenever I sign up for free trials, I always set a reminder on my phone. That way, I’m alerted when time is running out and don’t forget to hit the cancellation button.

How to Cancel SamCart (Without a Refund)

To cancel SamCart without requesting a refund, log into your account and click the three dots next to your account name in the bottom-left corner. Then, select Billing.

Billing

Your subscription details will now be displayed on the screen. Click Manage.

Manage

Choose a reason for canceling (it doesn’t matter which) and click Next.

Next

SamCart will try to entice you to stay by displaying offers or other incentives. Ignore them and keep clicking Next until you get to the screen where you can select Cancel Subscription.

Cancel Subscription

Confirm your cancellation, and you’re done. You can keep using your account until the current subscription or trial period expires.

Confirm your cancellation

Double-check that your subscription details state it will not renew. If you receive a cancellation confirmation email (I didn’t), make sure you keep it and don’t delete it.

Don’t Trust the Process (Speaking from Experience)

I actually have a personal beef with SamCart. More specifically, CreatorU.

A few years back, I encountered an ad that was running a promotion for the CreatorU platform. I remember I paid about ten bucks for the year. However, once that year expired, I would be charged the full subscription amount ($240/year) unless I canceled.

Don’t Trust the Process

I honestly didn’t get much out of the platform, so I went into my account and made sure I canceled my subscription well before the renewal date.

Fast-forward a few months, by sheer chance, I happened to check my PayPal account (something I rarely use) and saw that a $240 charge was about to go out.

After some investigation, I found that CreatorU was the culprit, and luckily, I managed to block the charge via PayPal before it left my bank account.

As you can imagine, I was not impressed.

SamCart stated that I did not cancel. However, I distinctly remember looking at my account several times to check that it was canceled.

Trustpilot is FULL

I’m not alone, either. Trustpilot is FULL of reviews with stories similar to mine. They’re recent ones, too, so the problem is ongoing.

SamCart is full of similar reviews

We’re not just talking about CreatorU here, either. SamCart is full of similar reviews where money was taken but never refunded.

So, my advice is to be very aware of the situation. They’re not obligated to refund you, and just because you’ve canceled doesn’t mean they’re going to stop taking your money.

Therefore, if you do cancel (whether you want a refund or not):

  • Keep your receipts! Don’t delete any communications, emails, cancellation confirmations, etc.
  • Take screenshots of the screen when you cancel your account.
  • Use email communication instead of live chat so it’s easier to keep records of what was said and when.
  • If you do use live chat, record your screen so you have a record of the conversation.
  • Check your account or payment method a day or so before the payment would normally go out to check if there’s one in process or not. If there is, block it.
