GoHighLevel has launched certificates that can be assigned to students when they complete a course.
The certificates can be fully edited and customized to suit your branding and style.
Key Takeaways:
- Pick from five prebuilt certificate templates or create from scratch
- Upon issue, students receive a sharable certificate link via email
- One certificate can be assigned to a course at a time
What Are GoHighLevel Course Completion Certificates?
GoHighLevel course completion certificates are a new tool inside the platform’s “Memberships” feature.
Now you can issue certificates when students complete one of your courses. The certificate is issued via email and includes a sharable link, so the student can provide proof of completion to anyone who requires it.
The Benefits of Using GoHighLevel Course Completion Certificates
Course completion certificates provide many benefits to you and your students:
- They provide an incentive to complete the course and help drive engagement.
- It’s a way of providing a reward for your student’s hard work.
- Course certificates make your course feel more professional and authentic.
- Certificates provide proof to others that a student has successfully completed all the course material.
Of course, we’re talking about unaccredited certificates here, so they don’t hold the same weight as a certificate issued from an official body or organization. However, they are still a great way to celebrate the completion of a course.
You could also use certificates as a way to increase revenue. For example, if you have several related courses, you can provide a bonus course for free if a student completes and gains certificates from each one.
Or, you could have an advanced course available, but students must hold a certificate for the beginner’s course to access it.
Examples of GoHighLevel Course Completion Certificates
Currently, there are five certificate templates to choose from. All can be customized and edited:
The first template is a portrait design with a fancy border and plain background. It also includes a clipart image which we feel is reminiscent of Windows 98 – totally outdated.
You’ll see throughout the templates there are several terrible clipart images like this. Don’t worry, they can be swapped out with something more modern-looking!
The second template is plainer than the first, with gold accents. All the text on the templates can be modified, and you can upload your own signature or create one using a scripted font in the editing tool.
This is probably our favorite template. Apart from the terrible clipart, the aesthetic is clean and modern. Note the text in brackets. These are custom fields that will prepopulate the certificates with certain information upon being issued.
Now for a simple landscape design. This one is made a little more interesting by using a patterned background. You can choose from a handful of preset backgrounds, select a color, or upload your own.
The last template is also landscape and offers a minimal design. This is a good one to use if you don’t want to start from scratch but also want a mostly blank slate to customize.
How to Use GoHighLevel Course Completion Certificates (Step by Step)
Step 1: Log into GoHighLevel and enter the relevant sub-account. Click “Memberships” found in the left-hand menu and then find and click “Certificates” at the top of the screen.
Step 2: Click “New” in the top-right corner and choose to either create a certificate using a template or start from scratch with a black page.
If you pick “Blank Certificate,” you will be taken straight to the editing screen. For this guide, we’re going to pick a template.
Step 3: A pop-up will appear. Pick your favorite template and click to highlight it, then click “Confirm.”
Step 4: The editing screen will open along with your chosen template. On the left, you will see all the elements you can add to the page. Simply drag and drop them into the desired spot.
Here’s a quick rundown of what you can add:
- Layout: Switch between landscape and portrait, choose between four different frame styles.
- Background: Upload a background image, change the background color, or select one of four background patterns.
- Header: Add header text (including custom fields).
- Text: Add standard text (including custom fields).
- Image: Upload your own images (we recommend doing this instead of using the available clipart images).
- Badge: Pick from five clipart badges.
- Signature: Create a digital signature using one of six cursive signature fonts.
Step 5: When you are done editing, click “Save” in the top-right corner. You can also hit the “Preview” button to see what the finished design looks like.
Step 6: Next, you need to assign the certificate to a course. Head back to the “Memberships” tab and click “Courses” at the top.
Step 7: From the dropdown menu, select “Products.”
Step 8: All your created courses will appear on the screen. Click the one you want to assign the certificate to.
Step 9: Under the course title, you have some options in small text. Click “Certificates.”
Step 10: In the “Certificates” tab, click “Attach Certificate” found in the top-right corner. A pop-up will appear. Select your certificate from the dropdown and hit “Save.”
Step 11: The certificate is now listed and assigned for your course. To access the settings, click the three dots to the right of the certificate name.
Here are the available certificate settings:
- Preview: This lets you preview the certificate and view it as a student would.
- Edit: Opens up the editing screen where you can customize the certificate.
- Mark Inactive: This will prevent the certificate from being issued.
- Delete: Removes the certificate altogether and allows you to select a different one.
Step 12: To see who has achieved a certificate, head back to “Memberships” and click the “Certificates” tab. Then, click on “Issued Certificates.”
All students who have received a certificate will be listed here. If you click the three dots to the right of a name, you can preview the certificate or you can click to revoke access.
Revoking access makes the sharable certificate link that the student received inactive and unusable.
