Thinkific is another Kajabi alternative and one of the big players in the online course platform industry.
Thinkific seems to be optimized for solo entrepreneurs and small businesses and has a relatively stripped down and easy to follow structure.
One of the best features of Thinkific is that it offers a free tier option so users can try out the platform and see if it’s right for them.
The free-tier option only allows for 1 online course but is for letting people try out the platform.
The Basic plan is the first “real” plan and gives you unlimited courses and students right off the bat.
The Basic Plan has all the main features you want out of a course platform like email marketing, affiliate programs, and promotional offers.
Thinkific has a straightforward site builder. You do not get full control of the site (you can’t edit CSS, for example) but you have control over the basic elements like layout, fonts, colors, and the like.
Thinkific does a great job with the course creation platform. It has a number of templates to help get you started building courses and each template can be modified however you’d like.
Course materials allowed on Thinkific include videos, quizzes, text lessons, audio lessons, exams, and assignments.
Thinkific is a great platform for solo entrepreneurs but it might not be the best when your business gets large.
You have relatively limited control of the code, unlike other platforms. The main benefit of Thinkific is the free-tier option which is pretty generous as far as free things go.
Ultimately, Kajabi beats Thinkific in features but Thinkific has a leg up in price.

Last on our list is Podia, a streamlined and simple-to-use platform for course content creation and marketing.
Podia has one of the better interfaces we have seen and is built off an intuitive drag-and-drop builder program that makes it easy to get started.
Your digital storefront and product pages are easy to customize and the menu is optimized for visibility, navigation, and managing course content. It also gives you access to creating membership sites.
Podia excels as it gives a comprehensive set of tools for your site and content.
You can host whatever kind of digital content you want, courses, ebooks, videos, etc. Podia gives you a custom domain, free hosting, opt-in templates for campaigns, and a learning management system for tracking student progress and performance.
Even the basic plan comes with unlimited products, customers, email contacts, and files. The basic plan does not have a blog tool or membership functionality though.
Podia is cheaper than Kajabi but ultimately more limited. Noticeable absent from Podia is automation marketing tools.
Podia seems best oriented towards new entrepreneurs just starting out, while Kajabi is better for growth and expansion.
Either way, Podia is a great Kajabi alternative that deserves some praise.

Clickfunnels is software that helps you build sales pipelines and funnels.
Essentially, Clickfunnels is based around maximizing sales online Clickfunnels is pretty new but has already made a name for itself.
Clickfunnels was founded in 2014 and already has an active user base of over 98,000.
Here are the basics of Clickfunnels
- Great for landing pages
- Capturing emails and taking payments is simple
- Super intuitive to learn and use
- A/B testing capabilities (!)
- 2-week trial
Clickfunnels is designed to save you time and to convert more leads into sales in the marketing pipeline. To that effect, it’s got some neat tools for social media marketing efficiency.
The built-in A/B tester is one of the best ideas we have ever seen and gives you a convenient way to see the effects of your marketing strategies.
It is compatible with WordPress sites and handles API integration well. Clickfunnels are a bit expensive though.
It’s hard to compare the two because they are geared towards different audiences. Kajabi is specifically for digital content like courses, membership programs, and ebooks.
Clickfunnels is broader and oriented towards both physical and digital content products. It is entirely possible to integrate the two with each other, so you can get the best of both worlds.

Teachable is a very popular course creation/marketing platform that has similar functionality to Kajabi.
Teachable users get a solid and attractive platform that makes it easy to create and sell your courses.
Teachable has a good interface that is ideal for users browsing and has some great tools that help the sales process, like checkout pages and customizable sales pages.
Further, teachable is one of the largest players in the online course platform has a sizable user base.
The longevity of the company and its high user base is a good indication that the platform is effective at what it does.
Some features users get with a Teachable subscription are
- Unlimited students
- Training lessons
- Coupon codes
- Affiliate marketing
- Email marketing
- Learning management system
- Membership site
One thing Teachable excels at is the included blog component. Many online course platforms don’t include a blogging tool (Kajabi does!) so it’s nice for creators to have a space to share personal thoughts with their students. Setting up courses is straightforward too.
You can upload videos, check thumbnails, check SEO metrics, and manage prices right from the tool dashboard.
Teachable is optimized for video-based courses, but you should be able to sell other digital products using the platform just fine.
You can organize courses as sections with lecture components. Teachable allows multimedia uploads for course files (video, audio, PDFs, etc.).
The drip option allows you to queue products to be released automatically over a schedule. They also give the option to create membership sites.
Teachable is a pretty solid platform that has some good features and 2 reasonably priced plans for individual business owners.
The 3 pricing options are pretty expensive but you get a lot of cool new stuff like multiple admin users, priority support, and bulk enrollments.
Ultimately though, Kajabi has more features than the Teachable basic plan, even if Kajabi is more expensive.

The name Ontraport may not sound familiar but the company has been around for over a decade.
Ontraport is a dedicated email marketing platform that has some great automation and CRM tools for managing your contacts.
Ontraport describes itself as a “visual marketing automation and reporting platform” that works around visual campaigns. Ontraport lets you build landing pages, multiple forms, and even send SMS messages.
Ontraport has a simple block-based interface for building sign up forms. It also has a versatile campaign builder which is the core feature of the platform.
You can build email marketing or social media campaigns. The campaign builder lays out your entire pipeline plan in a visual format and gives live statistics on what is going on.
One issue we have with the pricing plan is that the benefits do not scale. The basic plan only supports 1000 contacts and the Pro plan ups that number to 2,500, which is not great considering the pricing difference between the Basic and Pro plans.
Again, it’s hard to compare the two because they have different purposes and audiences.
We will say that Kajabi has much of the same marketing tools that Ontraport brings to the table, and the subscription plans scale better. So our bid is with Kajabi on this one.

WordPress & WP-Tonic
- Essential: $35/mo
- Growth: $115/mo
- Scale: $290/mo
- Full-service: starts at $4,500
WordPress & WP-Tonic, like Kajabi, is a platform that lets you create and sell courses online. But there are significant differences.
Kajabi is an all-in-one platform but WP-Tonic hooks you up with a powerful WordPress integrated platform that can do everything WordPress can do content-wise.
We will be honest, WordPress has probably the most features out of any content delivery tool out right now, but getting everything to work correctly can be a huge pain, which is why all-in-one solutions like Kajabi are so popular for making online courses.
WP-Tonic is more sprawling and takes some professional know-how to operate.
The good news is that WP-Tonic has a full suite for building courses and a membership site tool. WP-Tonic is also open source, which means you will have more flexibility with the code than you would on other integrated platforms. Along with the normal subscription pricing tiers, WP-Tonic gives the option for you to pay and have your site built entirely for you.
Ultimately, both Kajabi and WordPress are powerful content delivery systems for managing and selling courses.
Kajabi is more user-friendly and for that reason, it comes out slightly ahead. WP-Tonic is a good option if you need even more flexibility than what Kajabi already offers.

Kartra styles itself as an “all-in-one” marketing automation and sales funnel platform.
That means the Katra platform is specifically focused on making more sales and boosting your site revenue.
Katra gives users some great marketing tools for setting up pipeline funnels for your content and building your webpage.
They also give users a great affiliate program for boosting revenue and visitors.
Kartra does not have a free-tier option but they do offer a 14-day free trial. The pricing scales are methodical and follow a clear pattern and each builds off the features of the lower plans in a nice way.
The basic Katra plan gives you up to 2,500 contacts and 100 pages along with up to 20 products.
All Katra plans have the option to make membership sites. And give users access to over 50GB a month in bandwidth.
The only problem with Katra is the interface. The company made some obtuse design choices that make navigating the tools and working with content more difficult than it needs to be. Unfortunately, it’s not a simple as click and edit.
Otherwise, Kartra is a solid platform for marketing online courses. It does not have as many features as Kajabi (noticeable absent is the course creation capacity). You can also learn more about the differences between Kartra and Kajabi.

AccessAlly offers similar courses and marketing features as Kajabi. Add this LMS (learning management system) plugin to existing WordPress sites to reach your business’ full potential.
AccessAlly is designed for the business owner who already has an existing WordPress site. It removes all the risk and hassle to test multiple small plugins that, in the end, prove to be disappointing.
It features sound subscription, membership, and payment management. Create interesting and logical workflows for students using AccessAlly’s course builder.
We like the customizable quizzes and tests you can set up with AccessAlly. Create good looking graded quizzes, personality, and scoring tests with ease. Use the result of these tests to unlock further courses or training material.
AccessAlly compares well with Kajabi’s features and creative freedom. Although the monthly cost of AccessAlly is slightly cheaper, keep the additional hosting cost of a WordPress site in mind. The price of all Kajabi plans includes the hosting fee.

Simplero is an online LMS provider that markets themselves as being highly customer service orientated. Relatively speaking, it’s a small company but offers an exceptional product.
Simplero is a one-stop-shop for any digital product business. It allows you to set up a website fast and create products and programs.
On the marketing and sales side, Simplero grows your mailing list, manages payments, and allows you to build sales funnels.
We like the way Simplero has structured the pricing of their plans. It may take a while to build your website and have it up and running. During this phase, it’s not necessary to have access to all the advanced marketing and sales features.
Instead, Simplero’s Build plan has all the required functionality to build and set up the site (at a reduced price). You can switch over to their Launch plan once you’re ready.
Simplero is a perfect choice for anyone looking for a small and efficient alternative to Kajabi. It offers good value for money and has all the features you need to get started.
Udemy is suitable for the creator that wants to create and share content but does not want to go through the hassle of setting up and managing their own site. Instead, upload a course to Udemy where it is hosted for free.
So, what’s the catch? Udemy makes use of the same business principle as many stock photography sites. When a student purchases your course, you get a share of the revenue.
The ultimate percentage the instructor receives depends on the mode of sale. The basic terms are:
- Instructor Promotion: 97% of the total revenue goes to the instructor. This is only applicable when the student purchases the course using an instructor’s coupon code.
- Udemy Organic: 50% of the revenue on organic Udemy sales where no instructor’s coupon code is used.
- Paid User Acquisition Channel Sales: 25% of the revenue goes to the instructor. In this case, sales come through the Udemy Marketing Boost program.
We recommend Udemy for creators who want a simple platform to sell their courses. It does, however, offer no features similar to Kajabi.

Squarespace is easy to use and a very popular web-building application. It offers great value for money, even if you’re opting for their most expensive plan.
The platform is designed for the individual or business looking for an easy to use package. They feature a wide range of good-looking templates, neatly categorized for easy selection. Each template can be further customized using SquareSpace’s user-friendly site-building tools.
The SquareSpace site-building capability and marketing tools are excellent. However, Squarespace is not a complete alternative for Kajabi. Squarespace is designed as a general website and e-commerce platform.
Building and hosting courses, tests, and quizzes will require a third-party plugin or application. If you have an existing SquareSpace account, this is a viable option. For course creators who are interested in exploring different options, we recommend a dedicated LMS platform.

Easily create good looking and effective e-commerce site using LeadPages. It includes all the features you need to get started, from a good site builder to marketing-related services.
Similar to Kajabi, it integrates with other online services such as MailChimp and WordPress. If you already have accounts on these platforms, using LeadPages makes a lot of sense.
Similar to SquareSpace, we feel that it does lack the core features to build and create effective courses. If this feature is not the primary purpose of your business, LeadPages is a good alternative to Kajabi.
- Basic: $199/year
- Plus: $229/year
- Pro: $369/year
LearnDash is a learning management system plugin for WordPress, similar to AccessAlly. This is one of our favorite LME plugins for WordPress.
The platform specializes in creating courses, tests, and quizzes. Set up a drip-feed to release lessons and content according to a schedule. The advanced grading system enables you to keep a grade book, set lesson prerequisites, award points for completing courses, and present learners with certificates and badges.
LearnDash is the perfect platform if you have large organizations as clients. The customers can buy licenses in bulk and grant staff access to your material.
At this stage, LearnDash only offers package subscriptions on an annual basis. However, this does work out cheaper compared to Kajabi. It’s also much cheaper than the comparable WordPress plugin, AccessAlly.

Wix is an effortless website building tool for the non-technical user. In many ways, it is more comparable to SquareSpace than Kajabi.
Set up a business or e-commerce site fast. Wix offers great value for money and works for most users.
Wix does not offer the course building tools that many specialized learning management systems do. If this is important to you, we recommend looking at one of the other alternatives in our list. However, if your main objective is to sell products, Wix does a perfect job.

Most of us know MailChimp is an email marketing tool. This remains one of their specialties, and they are one of the industry standards when it comes to this facet of marketing.
However, they also offer some other services that might interest you. They are now offering custom domains and the ability to develop your website. You can also use MailChimp to setup and distribute online surveys.
MailChimp can integrate with more than 300 applications, including WordPress, Zapier, and WooCommerce.
We don’t necessarily see MailChimp as an alternative for Kajabi, but rather an effective tool to integrate into existing WordPress and Kajabi sites.

Keap is a complete online marketing campaign application. It integrates with all the popular platforms, including WordPress and Zapier (making it possible to integrate with Kajabi).
The team at Keap focus their efforts entirely on marketing and generating conversion for your online products or courses. Some of our favorite features include setting up automated marketing actions that are triggered by client action.
Keap has an easy to understand reporting and insights feature. The reports have a logical layout making it possible to spot focus areas fast.
For users looking for an alternative to Kajabi’s existing marketing and sales tools, Keap offers great functionality, albeit at a considerable price.
- Free: $0/month
- Complete: from $29/month (final price depends on the number of site subscribers)
ConvertKit is a great Kajabi alternative for startup businesses and online course platforms. It’s easy to use, and the pricing structure gives freedom to small companies.
ConvertKit’s features are similar to those of Kajabi. Some of the highlights include quick and easy setup of emails, growing audiences with dedicated sign-up landing pages, directing specific emails according to user actions, and organizing and sorting subscribers.
In our opinion, this is one of the best Kajabi alternatives. The pay-as-you-grow pricing makes it much more affordable for small businesses.
