  • Use “branching” to create different outcomes based on question answers
  • Direct participants to sales pages, email campaigns, data capture forms, and more.

Why Use a Quiz Funnel, Exactly?

Interactivity Boosts Engagement

Interactivity Boosts Engagement

Who can resist a quiz?

As it turns out, not many people can.

Quizzes have a knack for intriguing the audience and drawing people in. A quiz is more likely to be completed than a cold email opened, and they’re highly shareable, too.

Why? Because quizzes are fun, especially if they compel the reader to find out more about themselves. Here are some examples of what I mean:

  • Find out what your body type means for your health
  • Discover what type of leader you are and how to leverage it
  • Are you on track to meet your financial goals? Find out now!

You are far more likely to sign up and take a quiz like this than you are to enter your contact details for a newsletter, right?

It’s One of the Top Ways to Gather Leads…

It’s One of the Top Ways to Gather Leads…

Because of their compelling nature, quizzes are one of the best ways to generate leads.

This is because the audience gets instant gratification and reward by taking the quiz and learning something from the results.

Not only that, a well-crafted and relevant quiz means you will generate the right kind of leads.

For instance, a quiz titled “Are you managing stress well? Find out how you are coping” will appeal to individuals who feel stressed and anxious. On the other hand, a quiz titled “What’s your driving style?” will appeal to car owners.

Therefore, if you create a quiz that fully relates to the products you sell, the leads it generates will be far more valuable.

…And Get Essential Audience Insights…

…And Get Essential Audience Insights…

Let’s not forget that quizzes generate data! This information is worth its weight in gold because it can help you better understand your audience.

It will give you unique insights into what motivates people, what problems they face, and what they want to do about them.

For example, you know your audience loves fitness, but what types of exercise do they prefer? What is preventing them from getting the exercise they need? What do they need to meet their fitness goals?

The answers to all of these questions can be easily discovered by using (you’ve guessed it!) a quiz!

…Which You Can Use to Segment Your Audience

…Which You Can Use to Segment Your Audience

Once you have all this extra data, you can use it to segment your audience properly.

Instead of lumping everyone in the “loves fitness” category, you can break the group down into people who love home fitness, group exercise, the gym, etc.

This will give you smaller audience segments, but they will be specifically targeted to their unique interests and preferences.

Result: Better Targeting!

Result: Better Targeting!

What do you do with all these valuable audience insights? Use them to your advantage, of course.

The better you know your audience, the more you can fine-tune your products or services to address their needs.

What is a potential customer more likely to choose? A brand that fully understands them and tailors its message precisely to its audience? Or a brand with a generic message that vaguely solves the audience’s problem?

This highly targeted approach won’t just win you more sales—it’ll generate fierce brand loyalty among your followers.

2 Ways to Add a Quiz to a ClickFunnels Funnel

Use the ClickFunnels Survey Builder

Use the ClickFunnels Survey Builder

You won’t find a specific quiz builder in ClickFunnels. To create one, you have to use the survey-building app.

I have to say (and you will see this below) that it’s one of the easiest features to master. I had such fun creating my questions and mapping out the answer paths!

Anyone can get to grips with this, so if you’re new to building quizzes, start here.

The only thing I will say is that you’re limited to asking multiple-choice questions, and there are no customization options. So, in this respect, it can be somewhat inflexible.

Embed a Quiz from a Third-Party App

Embed a Quiz from a Third-Party App

Although the survey builder is the easiest way to add a quiz to a ClickFunnels funnel, you are limited in terms of the types of questions you can create and the customization options.

If you want more control and features over your quiz creation, you can use one of the many available third-party quiz builders.

In most cases, you create your quiz inside the third-party app, then grab the embed code, which you can use on your ClickFunnels page.

This, of course, is trickier to do, and in many cases, you’ll have to pay extra to use the quiz builder. For example, Interact costs $39 per month.

How to Add a Quiz to a ClickFunnels Funnel (Full Guide)

How to Add a Quiz to a ClickFunnels Funnel (Full Guide)

To create a quiz inside ClickFunnels, Head to Apps > + > Survey Workflows > Add App.

Create Survey Workflow.

Give the survey a name and click Create Survey Workflow.

Now, create your first question:

  • Select the Multiple Choice option.
  • Add the question to the box and give it a description if necessary.
  • If you want to assign a score, switch on the Enable Scoring option.
  • Start inputting your answers.
  • Assign a score for each answer (if chosen).
  • Click Save Changes when done.

Why assign a score?

Giving each answer a score can be important because it enables personalized quiz paths and outcomes. The direction of the quiz can be determined by two things:

  • The chosen answer
  • Or the score

Let me demonstrate:

  • Here you can see I’ve added a split path.
  • By defining the rules of each path, I can determine which route a person takes based on their answers to the previous questions.
  • In this case, I’ve selected that:
    • A score less than 50 takes the right-hand path
    • A score above 50 will automatically take the left-hand path
  • After defining the rules for the path, I can then continue adding questions as needed.

Now let’s look at an example where the actual answer (not the score) determines the path:

  • I’ve created a simple question with a Yes/No answer.
  • Then, I added another split path.
  • In the Edit Rules section, I selected Answer To > Is Equal To > Yes.
    • Those who answer Yes to the previous question will now take the right-hand path.
    • Those who answer No will take the right-hand path.
  • Once the rules are set, continue adding questions as needed.

Obviously, the quiz must have some kind of final outcome. Depending on your goal, you must determine what the outcome is for each of your branches.

First, I’ll show you how to collect lead data:

  • You can see I’ve already added an email capture on the left-hand branch.
  • To add one to the right-hand branch, I select Add Question and choose which type of data capture question to include.
  • I’ve opted for the Contact Info question and chose to switch off the email field. Participants will only see the name and email fields when they get to this page.

Of course, you can add the lead data capture questions wherever it makes sense for you.

We’re still not done! Now, I’m going to configure the actions and outcomes:

  • This time, I’ve selected to add an Action.
  • This automates what happens next. For this branch, I’ve simply chosen to add a tag.
  • When the participant completes the last question in this branch, the tag will be assigned, and the quiz will end.

There are loads of different actions you can perform, and this is what makes the survey feature super valuable. Here’s a quick rundown of your options:

  • Send a message or an email (you must have these features set up already)
  • Send an asset like a digital download
  • Trigger an automated workflow
  • Add/remove tags, contact attributes, and notes
  • Create an opportunity
  • Enroll in a course
  • And more!

After you’ve added your actions, rather than the survey ending abruptly, you can also change what happens:

  • Select Change Target.
  • You can choose to Redirect or Ask Another Question.
  • I chose Redirect.
  • Then I got the options to redirect to a URL, A landing page, or a funnel.
  • As you can see, I opted to send the participant to a thank you page.

Doing this gives a meaningful end to the quiz and allows you to personalize the outcomes for each branch.

For example:

  • Each branch can lead to a landing page that provides information about the participant’s answer choices.
  • Each branch could enter the participant into a funnel that promotes a product targeted to their answer choices.

The possibilities are endless!

Your final task is to embed your quiz onto a landing page or website page.

  • Open up the page in the editing tool
  • Hover your mouse over the area where you want to embed the quiz
  • Select Add Element.
  • Find Surveys in the Forms section and click on it. The element will automatically appear on the page.
  • Select Settings.
  • Select your survey from the dropdown. You can also play around with the configuration in this section.

You’re done! Remember, test, test, and test your survey again. Make certain it works properly.

You can do this by hitting the Preview button at the top of the page editing screen.

If you find any dead ends or mistakes in your quiz, go back and change them.

Here’s an example of my finished quiz. Note that I haven’t configured the final landing page—it’s still in template format:

Make Sure You Follow These Best Practices

The Quiz Must Be Relevant to the Intended Audience

The Quiz Must Be Relevant to the Intended Audience

Who exactly are you aiming your quiz at? Does the subject matter align with their interests, needs, and problems?

A quiz that doesn’t relate to the intended audience will be completely ineffective.

This means you have to do a good amount of research first to understand the customer persona so they feel compelled to take the quiz.

Ensure Quiz Questions Align with Your Goals

Ensure Quiz Questions Align with Your Goals

Also, what are your goals, exactly? What do you want to get out of this quiz?

For instance, do you just want to gather leads? Or do you have something else in might, like:

  • Educating the audience
  • Giving product recommendations
  • Promoting your brand
  • Generating sales

Knowing the end goal will help you tailor the quiz questions to reach the desired outcome.

Be Transparent about Your Intentions

Be Transparent about Your Intentions

Finally, while quizzes are amazing for gathering information, don’t be sneaky about it.

Be clear about what you intend to do with the data and how you will use it.

Besides going a long way toward establishing trust with your audience, data transparency is also a legal requirement in many parts of the world. Compliance with data privacy laws is non-negotiable, so make sure you tick all the boxes here.
