GoHighLevel’s funnel builder can seem daunting at first, but it’s actually user-friendly.
Here’s my recommended process for building a sales funnel using the tools available on the platform.
Key Takeaways:
- Create and run unlimited sales funnels
- GoHighLevel has hundreds of sales funnel templates in many business niches
- Add order bumps to increase the value of the sale
1. Pick the Right Template

If GoHighLevel has one thing, it’s a lot of templates, and the funnel templates are no exception.
There’s plenty to pick from, or you can use the fancy new AI tool to create a funnel for you based on your prompts.

My preference, however, is to choose a premade funnel.
To quickly find what you need, use the filter tool to the left of the template menu. Scroll down to find the funnel type list and check the Sales box. That will bring up all the sales funnel templates.
To get a sales funnel for a specific business niche, filter further by category or tags.

You can see here that I’ve filtered to get sales funnels for business coaching and consulting. I’m going to pick the template for life coaching plans.
2. Consider the Funnel Steps
Once you select your template, you will be taken straight to the page editing screen. However, I recommend mapping out your funnel steps before customizing the pages.
So, exit the page editor and look at the funnel layout.
In my example, I only have a homepage (or sales page) and a thank you page. I could embed the order form on the homepage, but I’d rather have it separate.
To do that, I must create a new funnel step:
- I clicked on +Add New Step or Import.
- I’ve named my new funnel step Checkout.
- I also adjusted the order of the funnel steps so the checkout page sits between the homepage and the thank you page.
- At this point, my newly created funnel page is blank, and I don’t want that. Instead, I’ve chosen to copy the funnel homepage to avoid starting from scratch and keep the design consistent.

Once you’re happy with the funnel steps and their sequence, you can start editing the pages.
3. Customize the Pages
This step will take the most time, especially if you haven’t created a funnel before.
Fortunately, the GoHighLevel page editor has improved a lot recently and is now incredibly intuitive and responsive.
The way it works is easy:
- Click on the + sign of an on-page element or section, and the left-hand menu will open. You can add new elements to the page here.
- Click on the text or image of an on-page element, and the right-hand editing menu will open.
- You can edit things like text directly on the page or edit their appearance using the menu options.
- Click the + sign in the top-left corner to open the full element menu. You’ll find page sections, rows, elements, buttons, etc.
- There’s also a large selection of prebuilt sections that act as mini templates.
- Drag and drop everything onto the screen and click to edit it.

I’ve noticed the page editor also now features widgets, which are a pretty cool addition.
For instance, the testimonial widget pulls your online reviews onto the page and updates them in real time.
Of course, these are just the basics. You can add more advanced features, like pop-ups and custom CSS, so spend some time familiarizing yourself with all the tools.
4. Elevate the Page with Interactive Elements

Think beyond text!
How can you make your sales funnel engaging without it becoming overwhelming?
Adding interactive elements is not only a great way to keep people on your page but can also give you some valuable insights.
For instance:
- Adding a survey or quiz to the page gathers extremely useful lead data while providing a fun task for people to participate in.
- If you don’t want to go down that route, embedding a video or webinar is a simple way to create interest.
- Interactive graphics and images are another option, but you’ll need someone to create the custom code for this.
- You could even add a freebie on the page (in exchange for lead data, of course!), such as an e-book or other type of download.
5. Configure the Order Form and Checkout
Next up, you have to add products to the checkout page of your funnel.
- Head to the Products tab of the funnel step.
- Click to Add Product.
- Choose your product and configure the options.
- You’ll notice that you can assign a product as the Main Product or a Bump.
- To add both, you must add two separate products—one as the main and one as the bump.

You can add as many order bumps as you like.

Next, enter the page editing tool for your funnel checkout step and add the order form element. You can pick from one-step or two-step.

Order bumps don’t automatically show up on the order form—you have to manually select them.
You can do this by opening the order form editing menu and scrolling down to Order Bump Options. Toggle the switch to the “on” position, pick your product, and add the text.

Here’s what it looks like!
Don’t worry—you can customize the text and colors to make it look on-brand.
6. Publish

Once your funnel looks good, it’s time to unleash it on the world by publishing your pages.
But there’s more work to be done before that can happen.

First, you need to know that you can’t publish a funnel without purchasing and assigning a domain.
Luckily, you don’t have to leave GoHighLevel to do this because it has a domain store. You can search for domains and purchase them directly. They start at $8 a piece.
You can also purchase domains from elsewhere and use those.

Another important area in the funnel settings is the GDPR-compliant fonts. If you sell digital products and, therefore, are likely to have customers in Europe, you must turn this option on.
Once you have connected a domain and configured the settings, go ahead and hit Publish!
7. Set Up Automation

Now, this part isn’t essential, but it can get you more sales later down the line.
GoHighLevel has excellent automation capabilities, so I recommend taking advantage of them and attaching automated campaigns to your sales funnel.
For example, once a customer has completed a purchase, you can enter them into an email campaign workflow that introduces them to additional products.
You could also set up a workflow that automatically sends out an SMS or WhatsApp offering training or coaching services.
Using workflows requires effort because there is a fairly steep learning curve, but once you have mastered it, you’ll wonder what you ever did without it!
8. Test Test Test!

Don’t just assume that your funnel works perfectly. Once it’s live, you have to test it inside and out to make sure it does what it’s supposed to do.
Look at everything:
- Do the steps run in the correct sequence?
- Are the interactive elements working as they should?
- Does the order form work properly, and are all the payment options available?
- Are there any dead links or CTAs that lead nowhere?
- Are there any spelling errors or design elements that need tweaking?
If you notice anything amiss, fix it and then test again. Anything that looks off will discourage potential customers, and you definitely don’t want that to happen.
Don’t forget that testing applies to your automated workflow, too.
Finally, when everything looks and works as it should, you can start directing people to your funnel.
My Top Tips for Improving Your GoHighLevel Sales Funnel
1. Make Sure Your CTAs Are Strong

A great call to action (CTA) will lock down the sale.
If your potential customers have to search to find the Buy button or struggle to understand what they’re actually purchasing, they’ll quickly go elsewhere.
Everything on your page has to be obvious, and all your product descriptions have to be exceptionally clear.
Also, people don’t like to be deceived, so be upfront and honest about the price, what the customer will get, and how they will receive it.
Good examples of strong purchase CTAs include:
- Get Started
- Claim Your Offer
- Download Now
- Buy Here
2. Combine with SMS or Email Sequences

As I have already mentioned, connecting your funnel to email or SMS follow-up sequences will increase the potential for more revenue.
After all, if your funnel convinced them to make the purchase, maybe a well-thought-out SMS campaign will convince them to make a second purchase.
Let’s not forget those who decide to abandon the sale, either. Perhaps they need a bit more convincing via a series of emails. For instance, you could use an email campaign to introduce alternative products that may be more aligned with the person’s interests.
3. Include Order Bumps or Upsells

It’s no secret that order bumps and upsells are widely used to increase the value of the sale.
I’ve already shown you how to add these, and you should always do so where possible.
A couple of things to keep in mind:
- Bumps and upsells must be relevant to the main product.
- The offer should be an easy choice. Make it high value for a fairly low price.
- Place them on or after the checkout page only.
- Keep the choice small. Yes, GoHighLevel lets you add as many as you like, but that doesn’t mean you should. Don’t overwhelm the customer.
4. Find and Troubleshoot the Dropoff Points

Analyze your funnel’s performance using GoHighLevel’s analytics tools.
Where and why are potential customers abandoning the sale or funnel?
Identifying these areas (known as “drop-off points”) allows you to address the friction points and make improvements.
This might mean simplifying your forms, reducing the number of funnel steps, or adjusting your messaging—anything preventing your customers from remaining in the funnel and making that purchase.
5. Use A/B Testing

Split A/B testing is a massive help because it allows you to try out different versions of your funnel without creating a bunch of separate funnels.
For example, you might want to test three different landing pages for the same product. So, you can set up split testing for this purpose and send a third of your traffic to each page.
Once you know which page has the highest conversion rate, you can use that information to make improvements until you have the ultimate funnel in place!
6. Provide Social Proof

Social proof matters because it builds trust in your product. If potential customers can see that other people have bought and liked your product, they will be more inclined to trust your brand.
User-generated content is one of the best ways to gather social proof because it is generally considered the most genuine. Therefore, encourage your customers to post on social media about how much they love your product.
Also, use reviews from third-party websites (the Testimonials widget in GoHighLevel is perfect for this). Again, these are seen as more authentic and genuine.
As you can see in the screenshot above, writing reviews directly on the page isn’t seen as particularly trustworthy because they could have come from anywhere. So, try to avoid this route if possible.
7. Ensure the Funnel Is Mobile Optimized

These days, the majority of traffic comes from mobile devices.
The moment someone accesses your funnel on a mobile device and something looks “off,” they’ll leave.
That means your funnel must look and function perfectly on smaller screens.
In the page editing screen, click the mobile view icon to ensure that every step of your funnel looks great and runs smoothly.
