Kartra Automations uses “if” triggers and “then” actions.

You can set these triggers and actions to automatically perform tasks.

Such as, if a lead subscribes to a list, then add a tag.

Key Takeaways:

  • Kartra makes it easy to create and manage automations
  • Automations can be used in all aspects of your Kartra business
  • All of Kartra’s plans have access to the same automations

What Is Kartra Automations?

Kartra Automations automate basic tasks within Kartra, using “If-and-then” logic.

  • If – This is the trigger event, task, or action.
  • Then – This is the action that will be taken.

For example, let’s say a customer purchases a product from your site. You can use automations to subscribe the customer to a list.

  • “If” trigger – Lead buys product.
  • “Then” action – Subscribe to a list.

You can also add multiple “if” triggers and “then” actions to each automation. These are labeled “And.”

For example, let’s say a customer purchases a product from your site. You can subscribe that customer to a list AND add a tag.

  • “If” trigger – Lead buys product.
  • “Then” action – Subscribe to a list.
  • And “Then” action – Assign a tag.

Kartra automations are available on all plans, and the triggers and actions are the same on all plans.

Benefits of Using Kartra Automations

  • Save Time – Don’t waste your time manually completing tasks. Use automations to action these tasks automatically.
  • Avoid Manual Errors – As everything is handled automatically, there should be no human errors.
  • Better Customer Experience – Create a behavior-based journey of automations that provides your customers with relevant offers and communications to help increase their experience with your business.
  • Increase Sales – As you’re providing your customers with relevant offers using your automations, you should see your conversion rate increase.

What Can I Use Kartra Automations for?

You can use Automations in almost every part of your Kartra business.

Let’s look at where we can use automations in Kartra, the options we have, and some examples to help you create your own automations.

Products

Products

When you create a product in Kartra, you can add automations in the post-sale section.

For example, you could use automations to try and help you win back customers who refund their products.

This sequence could include emails to help encourage them to purchase another more suitable product, request feedback on why they canceled, and offer an exclusive discount code to win them back.

This would look as follows:

  • “If” trigger – Customer cancels subscription.
  • “Then” action – Subscribe to a sequence.

Forms

Forms

Add automations when a user completes your opt-in form.

For example, let’s say you’ve created an opt-in form to gather email addresses. In exchange for an email address, the user gets exclusive email content.

This would look as follows:

  • “If” trigger – When a lead fills in the form.
  • “Then” action – Subscribe to a sequence.

Communications

Communications on Kartra include email and SMS broadcasts and sequences.

You can use automations in several ways, including the following:

  • Trigger the sequence.
  • Within each communication.
  • When a user reaches the step.

Triggering the Sequence

This is how you get users to join your sequence.

Triggering the Sequence

To do this, click on “Starting Rules.” You can then select “Automations” and “+ New Automation.”

New Automation

You can select any “If” trigger, but the “Then” action will already be completed with “subscribe to this sequence.”

Within Each Communication

Within Each Communication

When you create an email or SMS, you can add automation.

add automation.

Let’s say, for this example, that you’re sending an email with a link to a product offer.

You could add an automation that tags users who might be interested in the product offer in the email.

This would look as follows:

  • “If” trigger – Lead clicks on a link.
  • “Then” action – Assign a tag.

When A User Reaches a Step

When A User Reaches a Step

When a lead reaches a step, you can add automation.

For example, you can subscribe a user to a list when it reaches this step. This list can help you identify those who have remained subscribed and, therefore, might be interested in your offer.

This would look as follows:

  • “If” trigger – Lead reaches this step.
  • “Then” action – Subscribe to a list.

Memberships

Give points

When you create your memberships, you can use automations.

For example, if you’re using lead points and want to grant points when a lead completes the access level, you could do this automatically using automations.

This would look as follows:

  • “If” trigger – Lead completes access level.
  • “Then” action – Give points.

You could set up automations for each level of your membership.

Webinars

Webinars

When you set up your webinar using the “Advanced Configuration” option, you will be able to create automations based on your lead’s interaction with the webinar.

For example, if a lead subscribes to your webinar but doesn’t show up, you can contact them to see if they want to watch a replay of the webinar.

This would look as follows:

  • “If” trigger – Lead registers to a webinar.
  • “And If” trigger – Doesn’t show up on the webinar.
  • “Then” action – Subscribe lead to a sequence.

Calendars

Memberships

You can create Kartra calendars, allowing users to book appointments, sessions, classes, or anything else.

For example, you might want to create an email list of everyone subscribed to the same calendar. You can then send communications relevant to that calendar to the list.

This would look as follows:

  • “If” trigger – Lead registers for a calendar.
  • “Then” action – Subscribe to a list.

Surveys

Surveys

Create surveys and quizzes to gather data from your leads and test their knowledge.

For example, you could set up a survey to ask your leads what their favorite color is and add their answer to the lead’s profile.

  • “If” trigger – Lead completes survey.
  • “And If” trigger – Lead’s response to the survey question is.
  • “Then” action – Assign a custom field to the lead.

Helpdesks

Helpdesks

You can choose whether or not to capture your helpdesk users as leads using Automation.

If you choose to capture users who submit a ticket or initiate a live chat, they will be added to your leads database.

If you do decide to add your helpdesk users as leads, you can add additional automations.

The additional automations include assigning a tag, subscribing to lists, and subscribing to sequences.

You can create automations in the areas mentioned previously or use the “Automations” area to create and manage all your automations.

The area where you create your automations will determine the “If” and “Then” options available.

For example, if you’re creating the automation in “Forms,” the only “If” trigger is “lead fills in the form.

Whereas, if you’re creating your automation in the “Automations” area, you will see a list of all the “If” triggers.
