Kajabi’s page editing tools are good, but they don’t offer the level of customization that can be achieved with tailored code.

To get a fully personalized look, you can add custom code to Kajabi—even if you don’t know coding yourself.

Key Takeaways:

  • Add custom code blocks, CSS, and Javascript to Kajabi web pages
  • The Pro plan is required to modify Kajabi template and theme codes
  • Use the custom widget creator as an alternative to adding code

5 Reasons Why I Recommend Adding Custom Code to Kajabi

Kajabi only offers a handful of templates for its products and pages—therefore, it’s harder to get a unique look. Adding code, however, opens up limitless possibilities for customization.

1. Greater Control and Flexibility

1. Greater Control and Flexibility

Example: bossbabe.com uses custom fonts and layouts to get the right look.

First, adding custom code allows you to tailor your pages to meet your specific needs.

Whether it’s aesthetics or functionality, Kajabi’s page editing tools can feel limited and prevent you from creating something that aligns perfectly with your brand.

2. Strengthens Branding

2. Strengthens Branding

Example: kantissimmons.com is a great example of using custom code to generate a strong brand identity.

Speaking of your brand, you want to ensure you have a cohesive and unique brand identity across all areas of your business. This is especially true if you want to stand out in a competitive market (which, of course, you do!).

With custom code, you can precision-match your brand’s fonts, colors, and layouts. Additionally, you can add bespoke elements like custom navigation or interactive features that you won’t find in the Kajabi page editor.

3. Unique Design

3. Unique Design

Example: college-admissions-grown-and-flown has used custom coding to achieve interesting and dynamic page layouts

Again, Kajabi’s limited templates can be a stumbling block for creating unique designs. Sticking to them makes it harder to capture visitor attention and makes them linger long enough to understand how your products can benefit them.

I love how custom code allows me to break from the constraints of those templates and build custom page layouts and components, such as cool visual effects and animations.

4. Enhanced Functionality

4. Enhanced Functionality

Example: jayemmecoach.com uses eye-catching animations, social media feeds, and interesting video embeds to enhance her site.

Custom code has also enabled me to level up my Kajabi pages with added functionality.

For example, I can use this feature to embed calendars, social media feeds, interactive maps, custom sliders, and more.

Another essential aspect of functionality includes insights and analytics so I can see how my pages are performing. I can achieve this by adding pixel-tracking code to gain a deep insight into my page visitor’s behavior.

5. Optimized Performance

5. Optimized Performance

Example: shinyunsal.com has a smooth-running website that contributes to her six-figure success.

A smooth-running website is what you need to ensure your visitors enjoy their time there.

Efficient custom code can enhance the customer experience by ensuring pages load fast and are compatible with all devices.

At the back end, I can also use code to enhance the SEO and performance, ensuring my pages attain a higher spot in search engine results—something incredibly important for growing organic traffic.

What Do You Need to Add Custom Code to Kajabi?

What Do You Need to Add Custom Code to Kajabi?

Here’s where this feature may become a problem for many. To add custom code, you need to actually know how to code.

Specifically Liquid, HTML, CSS, or Javascript.

The other issue is that some custom coding is only available on the Kajabi Pro plan, which just so happens to be the most expensive option:

  • Adding custom HTML code blocks, custom CSS, and Javascript to Kajabi pages can be achieved on any plan
  • Modifying template codes requires the Pro plan and knowledge of Liquid coding

Before you roll your eyes in frustration at this news, I’m happy to say there are solutions!

Two Ways to Customize Kajabi Pages without Knowing Code

Yes! It’s possible to get the web pages of your dreams without knowing a single jot of code!

And I know this because I, too, am not a coder. I know nothing about code whatsoever, except that it requires a LOT of learning (something I don’t have time for). So, I was thrilled to learn about the following possibilities.

Kajabi Custom Widgets Feature

Kajabi Custom Widgets Feature

Kajabi’s custom widgets feature is a game changer as far as I’m concerned because it allows me to make my pages fancy without dealing with code at all.

This feature is a collaboration between Kajabi and Common Ninja. It gives you access to loads of different widgets, such as animated headlines, social media feeds, progress bars, image carousels, and much more.

Kajabi’s custom widgets

Each widget is completely customizable, too, so you can make it fit with your brand and page aesthetic. Some widgets even feature direct integrations with third-party apps, further enhancing the functionality.

page aesthetic

Now, custom widgets aren’t free and are an additional cost to your usual Kajabi subscription. But, I think they are low-cost compared to hiring a coder to do the same job.

Oh, and you get one freebie! So, you can add a custom widget to your site without paying anything. If you want to add more, here’s what it costs:

  • $5/month for three additional widgets
  • $14/month for 10 additional widgets
  • $27/month for 25 additional widgets

Best of all, you can use custom widgets with ANY Kajabi plan, so this option is accessible to everyone.

Overall, this is the most efficient and affordable way to get a customized result.

Purchase a Custom Design

The other alternative is to hire a coder to do the work for you. They’ll take your vision and write the code. Then, all you have to do is add it to Kajabi.

The downside is that a quality coder won’t be cheap, and if you need the code adjusted or updated over time, you will have to pay again to get that done.

The other problem is that you will need the Kajabi Pro plan, which adds to the expense.

If this option appeals to you, there are a few places you can find expert coders:

  • The Kajabi Marketplace: This is a directory of vetted Kajabi experts. You’ll get a quality result but will potentially pay a lot.
  • Fiverr, Upwork, etc.: These freelance platforms are often affordable, but be sure to check if the person you choose can deliver a quality result.
  • Independent sites: There are a lot of Kajabi custom coders out there online if you search the term. Be sure to check quality, though. The best ones will tend to have a waitlist, so keep that in mind.
